Congratulations to the Mizel Class of 2009!It’s been another successful year at Tulsa's Mizel Jewish Community Day School, an environment fostering academic excellence emphasizing Jewish culture and values. Pre-K through grade 5, Mizel students enjoy a 7:1 student/teacher ratio. Hebrew language and prayer study complements a general studies curriculum stressing writing, critical thinking and problem solving. Take a look at some of this year’s amazing field trips, student projects, and holiday celebrations at mizelschool.org. |
Come join us in one of the best Jewish communities in the country. Tulsa named Best Place to Live in the U.S. #1 on Relocate-America’s Top 100. See what Tulsa, Oklahoma has to offer! Trading Up to TulsaIt’s all about lifestyle. Affording the kind you want and providing opportunities for your kids that you just can’t quite swing with the high cost of living on either coast. Here in Tulsa, in spite of—maybe because of— the fact that there are fewer Jews, your child will have the chance to have a Jewish education, a trip to Israel, summer camp, and more, even if you can’t entirely foot the bill. The community will make sure it happens. That’s what we do here for each other. Do you have to give up culture, good food, and diversity moving to the center of the country? It’s something I and many fellow transplants feared upon our arrival in Tulsa. The answer, happily, is no. If “melting pot” isn’t the phrase that comes to mind when picturing Oklahoma, it should be. Tulsa hosts an organization for just about everyone under the sun. OCCJ With a Chabad house, a Conservative congregation and a Reform temple, all flavors of Judaism are enthusiastically practiced here. If your taste leans more toward the secular, you still can’t beat joining our JCC a facility that rivals cities with much larger Jewish populations. Bubbie and Zaydie would be quite comfortable and closer to the grandkids in Tulsa’s Jewish retirement center (Yes, we have one and hey, there’s too much crime in Miami anyway!) We also boast a world-class ballet company (Tulsa Ballet was just asked to perform at an exclusive event in New York this summer), a symphony, Broadway shows, opera, a brand-new 18,000 seat arena, excellent art museums and more. Again, the advantages of a bigger city without paying so much for parking! Frequent host to PGA championships, Tulsa’s got plenty to do outdoors as well, with miles and miles of jogging/biking trails along the Arkansas River and dozens of lakes just a short drive from the city.
